Ladd A. Baumann is a founder of the law firm of Baumann, Xu & Black. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School – one of America’s top ten law schools. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Certificate from the University of Michigan and a Master’s Degree in International Criminal Justice from the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom.
After graduation from law school, Baumann practiced law in Oregon, both in private practice and also as a senior attorney with the Portland Public Defender’s Office.
Baumann moved to the U.S. Territory of Guam in 1974 to work for the Guam Public Defender’s Office. When that office was reorganized in 1975, he was named the first director of the new office.
In 1977, he opened his own private law practice. He also began teaching undergraduate courses in business law at the University of Guam and the University of Maryland in Guam.
Baumann has specialized in immigration and business law for more than 45 years. He frequently lectures on immigration issues before law and business groups in Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and an active member of the Guam Bar Association.
